In this category, you will find the best field-fed ham available on the market, which you can purchase online. At Distribuciones Gordito, we offer you a free-range ham that provides a greater flavor and aroma than the typical supermarket ham on sale. On our website, you will find hams selected and cured in a traditional and artisanal way, with the sole purpose of providing you with the highest quality.
This ham differs from regular fed ham in several characteristics, but the most noticeable for the final consumer is its flavor. This type of ham comes from pigs that have enjoyed freedom and, in addition to being fed with feed, gain weight naturally with the resources provided by nature. They are Iberian hams, as they come from a 100% Iberian mother and a purebred father in some cases, or 50% Iberian breed, depending on each company's practices. These hams have thinner shanks and more worn hooves, which help achieve a higher quality product. Their quality-price ratio remains very good, as the cost of this product is hardly different from regular fed ham, but the quality difference is quite noticeable when enjoying it. Always remember that according to regulations, this type of ham has a green label.
We choose the most recognized areas in Spain for the production of this product, a jewel of our gastronomy, such as Huelva and Extremadura. We select slaughterhouses where tradition merges with technological advances and where the local climate produces a ham of the highest quality. Another distinguishing factor for choosing these drying facilities is the way the pigs are raised, highlighting the quality of life of these animals and the landscapes where they develop, full of lush vegetation ideal for pedigree feeding. Our field-fed hams come from renowned drying facilities such as Ibéricos de Bellota Galván, Jamones Lazo, Los Artilleros, Era el Peñasco, etc. The prices of these types of hams range from Sierra La Jara at €129.95, now on sale with free shipping, to Hnos. Contreras at €154.95. These hams are of high quality with an unbeatable price-quality ratio.
